**NEW VOTING REQUIREMENT**

BRING YOUR PICTURE IDENTIFICATION TO THE POLLS

The Michigan Supreme Court recently ruled that a provision of Michigan Election Law which requires voters to present picture identification at the polls is constitutional and enforceable.

Beginning with the November 6th 2007 Election, voters will be required to present picture identification as part of the application to vote process.  The Election Inspector will check the photo and name appearing on the identification to verify the voter’s identity.

Voters who do not have acceptable picture identification or are not in possession of picture identification must sign an affidavit prior to voting.  For more information on this new requirement, please follow the link to the official notice from the Michigan Bureau of Elections.

Permanent Absentee Voter List

The Howell City Council recently authorized the Clerk's office to establish a Permanent Absentee List.  Upon completion of a simple application form, registered voters will automatically receive an application for Absentee Ballot approximately six weeks prior to each election without calling to request it.

Please click HERE to download the application form.
