Water Discoloration during Construction
March 9th, 2012 at 9:23 am

The current construction project that is occuring S. of Grand River, and W. of Michigan Ave. involves several utility improvements, including water main upgrades.  These will help provide reliable water and sewer service for the entire neighborhood.  Unfortunately at times it becomes necessary to flush hydrants and turn valves which may stir up iron, causing some residents to have orange water.  The water is perfectly safe for use.  Please run your faucets until it clears up before  you use it, this should take no more than 15 minutes.

If it continues to happen or you need assistance, please contact the dps department at 517-546-7510.

City of Howell Dashboard and Citizen's Guide
September 30th, 2011 at 11:29 am

As part of the Governor’s “Economic Vitality Incentive Program”, local units of government are required to provide a Performance Dashboard and a Citizens Guide. By meeting this requirement, the City of Howell will be eligible to receive a percentage of its appropriated statutory revenue sharing.

Performance Dashboard
The City of Howell Dashboard includes performance and operating measures that track such areas as: fiscal stability, public safety, quality of life and economic strength. Trends are identified by arrows indicating if an area is improving, declining or remaining the same.

Citizens’ Guide
The purpose of the City of Howell Citizen's Guide (excel file format), is to provide citizens with a document that will help them to better understand the City’s finances. The guide presents in a simple graphical format important financial measures. The areas covered include, revenues, expenses, financial position and financial obligations such as debt and pensions. The guide provides 5 years of data and has various drop down features that let the reader drill down to specific areas.
