Pavilion Rentals scheduled at Howell Recreation

Effective March 1, 2010, all Howell City Park Pavilion Rental requests will be scheduled at the Howell Recreation Bennett facility located at 925 W. Grand River Ave.

Thus, The Howell Downtown Development Authority introduces the first "Grabbin' O' the Green" Event - Downtown Howell's way of extending a welcoming hand to all looking for their own pot of gold.

Howell City Park and the Howell Boat Launch Opens for the Summer on Friday

 

Relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Howell City Park, whether you want to take a walk, play on the swings, picnic with family or friends, boat on Thompson Lake or enjoy the fun and sun in the water at the beach at Howell City Park!

 

Howell City Park
The Howell City Park (at the corner of Thompson and Barnard Streets) is set to open for the summer on Friday, May 22.  While the park is open from 6 a.m. – 10 p.m. through Labor Day, it will be staffed and entry fees will be collected before June 9th from 3 p.m. – 9 p.m. Monday – Friday and 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Holidays.  After June 9th the park guard booth will be staffed from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. The concession stand will be open every day from 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. 

  

All vehicles entering the park must have a valid season park sticker or day permit to enter the park.  Those who do not have a valid season park sticker will be charged $10/day to enter the Howell City Park.  Staffing schedules may change due to inclement and/or severe weather.

 

Howell Boat Launch
The Boat Launch (on Roosevelt Street between Lake and Summit) will also open on Friday, May 22.  The boat launch booth will be staffed and fees collected from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 6 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sundays and Holidays throughout the season. 

Those who do not have a valid season park sticker will be charged $20/day to use the Howell Boat Launch.

 

Season Park Stickers
City of Howell residents – One season park sticker to the Howell City Park and Boat Launch was sent via mail with your April/May water bill.  If you desire more park stickers, you may pick one up at the Howell City Hall, 2nd floor by showing proof of residency to get one additional free park sticker. City Hall is open - Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

 

Oceola Township residents – Season park stickers to the Howell City Park and Boat Launch are available by contacting the Oceola Township Hall at 517/546-3259. Pick up stickers at Oceola Township Hall, 1577 Latson Rd. during regular business hours - Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

 

Marion and Genoa Township residents – Season park stickers to the Howell City Park and Boat Launch may be purchased for $40 for the first sticker and $30 for each additional sticker by going to the Howell City Hall, at 611 E. Grand River, 2nd floor and show proof of residency.

 

Non-Residents – Season park stickers to the Howell City Park and Boat Launch may be purchased for $80 for the first sticker and $60 for each additional sticker by going to the Howell City Hall at 611 E. Grand River, 2nd floor and show proof of residency. 

 

Stickers for all residents (City of Howell, Oceola, Genoa and Marion Township) and non-residents will also be available at the park entrance booth and/or at the boat launch booth, with proof of residency.

 

Pavilion Rentals
Three park pavilions are also available for rent and are handled by the City's Treasurer's office at 611 E. Grand River Ave., 2nd Floor, Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.   Large pavilions hold up to to 100 and rent for $50/day on weekdays and $75/day on weekends.  The small pavilion holds 50 and rents for $25/day for weekdays and $50/day for weekends.

City Park Stickers

For City of Howell residents – If you receive a water bill, you will get one Howell City park sticker with your April/May water bill, watch for it!  If your property is a rental, you are responsible to give the park sticker to your renter.  If you desire more park stickers, please come to City Hall and show proof of residency.  We will be happy to provide you with your one additional free park sticker.

 

Additional stickers, beyond the two free stickers will be $15 each

Stickers will also be available at the park entrance booth, with proof of residency.

This report of the 2008 City of Howell Citizen's survey provides the opinions of a representative sample of residents about community quality of life, service delivery, civic participation and unique issues of local interest. A periodic sounding of resident opinion offers staff, elected officials and other stakeholders an opportunity to identify challenges and to plan for and evaluate improvements and to sustain services and amenities for long-term success.

 

Most residents experience a good quality of life in the City of Howell and believe the City is a good place to live.  The overall quality of life in the City of Howell was rated as “excellent” or “good” by 86% of respondents. Almost all report they plan on staying in the City of Howell for the next five years.

Vegetation Ordinance Amendment

On July 14, 2008 the City Council adopted an Ordinance Amendment to Section 622.02 Vegetation.  These amendments included the height restriction of no greater than 8", and a time line of 5 business days to remove, to name a few.
