There will be no residential spring clean- up in 2012. This service will occur in 2013 on a bi-annual schedule.
Any registered rentals for the City of Howell will expire on January 31, 2012. If you own a registered rental, and have NOT renewed it, please contact the Community Development office at 517-546-3861 no later than January 31, 2012.

E-Water Bill
It’s Easy, It’s Convenient, Save Money
The City of Howell is happy to announce the implementation of Paperless Electronic Utility Billing. Residents can now have their utility bill sent directly to an email address. This email bill will include the same information that’s on your current paper bill, but it will eliminate excess paper, envelopes and postage, for you and for the City.

The 2011 yard waste pick-up was completed December 1st. The City and Waste Management will no longer pick up for 2011. The pick-up will begin again in April of 2012.
If placed at the curb, the homeowner will be responsible to remove from the property.
2012 Information will be available on the website and the yearly calendar due out soon.

Ordinance 1022.07 states that property owners are responsible to clear the snow from their sidewalk within 24 hours after snow has fallen. Any complaints can be sent to enforcement@ci.howell.mi.us or call 517-546-3861. Violations of this ordiance are subject to Municipal Civil Infractions, first offense $50, and repeat offense $250. (202.99)
The contractor has completed the building of the road for 2011. This street will not recieve final asphalt paving until spring 2012. The City of Howell will maintain the street over the winter months.

If you are interested in becoming a snow angel, and offering your time to shovel sidewalks this winter for a City of Howell resident that is elderly or physically disabled, please contact our office at 546-3861. As part of the Governor’s “Economic Vitality Incentive Program”, local units of government are required to provide a Performance Dashboard and a Citizens Guide. By meeting this requirement, the City of Howell will be eligible to receive a percentage of its appropriated statutory revenue sharing.
Performance Dashboard The City of Howell Dashboard includes performance and operating measures that track such areas as: fiscal stability, public safety, quality of life and economic strength. Trends are identified by arrows indicating if an area is improving, declining or remaining the same.
Citizens’ Guide The purpose of the City of Howell Citizen's Guide (excel file format), is to provide citizens with a document that will help them to better understand the City’s finances. The guide presents in a simple graphical format important financial measures. The areas covered include, revenues, expenses, financial position and financial obligations such as debt and pensions. The guide provides 5 years of data and has various drop down features that let the reader drill down to specific areas.
