Steven L. Manor - City Council

 

Steve Manor, a teacher who retired from the Howell Public Schools in 1998, was elected to the city council in 1999. Steve earned his Bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University in 1963 and began his 34+ year teaching career on the west side of the state. In 1966 Steve accepted a teaching position in Howell in the old Michigan Avenue school on the site where the U.S. Post Office building is currently located. Later he taught at the Highlanderway Middle School and then the High School. Steve and his family moved into the city in 1969.

 

In 2000 Steve was appointed Mayor Pro Tem. Currently, he serves as chair of the Howell Brownfield Redevelopment Authority and as Howell's delegate to the South East Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG). At SEMCOG Steve serves on the Executive Committee as Livingston County's city/village representative and as Vice Chair of the Finance and Budget Committee.

 

Steve is active with the Howell Area Youth Assets Coalition and with the Livingston 2001 Diversity Council. He is currently working as one of three co-chairs of the Howell Skate Park Committee.

 

Steve's hobbies include golf, camping, traveling, and reading. He is married with two grown children.

 Scott Niblock - City Council

 

Scott Niblock has lived in Howell for over 20 years, and is a fourth generation Howell resident. He is a graduate of Howell Public Schools. He also holds a Bachelors degree from Michigan State University and a Masters degree from Central Michigan University.

 

Scott’s professional career includes many years in the Payroll / Human Resource industry. Currently, he is a sales representative for Ultimate Software, which is headquartered in Weston, Florida, and is a leader in web-based payroll and employee management solutions. His office is located in downtown Howell.

 

Scott was elected to City Council in 2005 and looks forward to many years of being involved with the City.

 

Some of Scott’s hobbies include golf, reading, and woodworking / home improvements. He is married and has one daughter.

Dawn Cooper -City Council

 

Dawn was born and raised in Flint, Michigan. After attending Flint Public Schools, she earned her BA in Journalism at Michigan State University, School of Communication Arts. She then pursued her interest in public relations at Central Michigan University.

 

After college, Dawn, along with a friend, opened a public relations firm in Traverse City where they specialized in running political campaigns, local and state level. She spent most of her career at the Michigan Education Association representing teachers, supervising, and as the Director of Communications, retiring in 2000.

 

Dawn was appointed to the Howell City Council in 2000 to fill a vacancy when Gerri Moen became Mayor. She also volunteers on the Howell City Planning Commission.

 

Some of Dawn's hobbies include writing, reading, and gardening. She teaches a "How to write your Memoir" class and has also completed her own Memoir that she is now trying to get published. Dawn is married, along with two children, has three grandchildren who love to come to Howell for the Balloon and Melon Festivals.
